First off, let me just say that I am totally ready to start the Beachbody Ultimate Reset. “Reset” is such an appropriate, if not clever, term to describe this program. My last program was a P90X/P90X2 hybrid and when I go off my exercises program, my nutrition plan often does too. So getting a reset right now is exactly what I need and I look forward to the “Ultimate” part as 2 of my members from my Ultimate Reset Challenge Group have already started and are reporting some amazing results already! So follow me on my journey and learn some tips from my Ultimate Reset review.
Preparation for any program is VITAL and I have stocked up on all my foods, planned my meal times, and have thoroughly reviewed the material. Since this program involves a low calorie plan, planing and preparation is especially important because making last minute decisions can be tough when you are in a vulnerable and weakened state. That being said, be sure to rid your house of junk food! Speaking of a low calorie diet plan, the Ultimate Reset is 3 meals with an optional afternoon snack. Optional? Seriously? I consider that mandatory plus for me personally, the snack time between lunch and dinner is when I’m the most hungry. Furthermore, I don’t like the idea of going without a morning snack and was surprised that Beachbody didn’t go with a typical 5 meal plan. Since the Ultimate Reset is only 21 days, this is optimal for faster weight loss, but a long term plan of few meals would be extremely tough to follow. While am looking to lose some weight, I don’t need to take it to that extreme so I will be having a light snack before lunch.
My morning started off by using the very first trio of Ultimate Reset supplements, Mineralize, Oxygenize, and Optimize. Mineralize is actually Himalayan salt, a pure salt from the earth and extremely essential for our bodies. This is NOT your usual table salt! You’ll notice it’s distinct pink color and is very much the opposite of table salt in regards to health standards. How much to use with my water was confusing as the schedule says a pinch for 12-32 ounces, the bottle says a pinch for 8-12 ounces, and a reference in the book said 1/2 teaspoon for 64 ounces. I decided to grab a 1/8 teaspoon for my 16 oz bottle but when I opened the cap, it had a sprinkle lid so I couldn’t pinch anything anyway. I decided just to eyeball what I put in and used my measuring spoon for reference, as I didn’t want to spill any of this precious salt.
Then came Optimize, which promotes a healthy metabolism and has a bunch of healthy enzymes. These pills should be taken with water and 30 min before your meal. I almost forgot the Oxygenize and took that last. I was most curious to try this Ultimate Reset supplement as it has stabilized oxygen in the distilled water. Directions say to mix with 10-15 drops with water or mouth. I decided to try water for my first time. Speaking of water, all bottled waters are not the same! Some brands are merely re-branded municipality water and aren’t much better than tap water. My favorite bottled water is Dasani because it not only tastes great, but it uses the reverse osmosis filtration technology. Basically, it means the water is very pure and this is what you will want when doing the Ultimate Reset!
Beachbody Ultimate Reset – Day 1 Breakfast
For my first meal I improvised a little and used 1 egg with 2 egg whites instead of 2 whole eggs. I also skipped the olive oil as measuring a 1/2 teaspoon seemed ridiculous. To make up for my healthy fats, I used Dave’s Killer Power Seed bread. This is perfect because there are all sorts of healthy seeds like pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flaxseeds, baked into the crust. Plus its organic and delicious! I steamed up a bunch of spinach to complete my meal and did my best to eat SLOWLY so my brain has a chance to realize I’m eating and therefore I can feel more full.
For my unsanctioned morning snack, I went with a medium green apple with a tablespoon of crunchy almond butter and sprinkled with cinnamon. This has always been a favorite snack of mine and the almond butter fats help slow the absorption and regulate the blood sugar level. Without it, you may get hungrier sooner. Since lunch is going to be a veggie salad, this morning snack will help me last until my afternoon snack.
Just before lunch, my head started to get tight as a result of caffeine withdrawal. That made me realize that I’ve never made this far in a day without caffeine for decades which is a scary thought. I haven’t been a heavy caffeine user recently, thanks to Tony Horton. His book BRING IT! inspired me to cut way back on caffeine and I have been much better off since making that change. I can’t imagine what others must have to go through with their withdrawals. If you are are a heavy or moderate caffeine drinker, you better slowly wean yourself off before starting the Ultimate Reset. If the caffeine withdrawal gets worse tomorrow, I may have to have a glass of Tropical Strawberry Shakeology for a much needed boost.
Day 1 Lunch
Lunch was a nice salad with a heavy mix of vegetables and for dressing, I decided to skip using the suggested recipe and simply use Bragg Organic Vinaigrette Salad Dressing.
It is as completely natural as you can get with no added preservatives, etc. Because of this, I reduced my combined sunflower and pumpkin seeds to 1/4 a cup. The seeds were an excellent addition to the salad which not only gave it a good crunch, but a tasty flavor as well. Also, when making a salad I suggest making two. This will cut down on preparation time drastically as you can use the other salad on another day.
At 3:00pm I had my snack, fat free plain Greek yogurt with strawberries. At this point, my headache had gotten worse and my stomach was a little queasy, but I was hanging in there okay. I kept reminding myself that this was only day 1 and toughed it out. Then to my surprise, my stomach uneasiness and headache was began to subside shortly after my snack.
Day 1 Dinner
For dinner, I made salmon with baby red potatoes and steamed broccoli (asparagus is out of season). I love using the grill to cook salmon and I put the salmon on nonstick aluminum foil so it retains is heart healthy, omega fatty acids. I splashed it with lemon juice and a pinch of Himalayan salt and it was perfect!
Beachbody Ultimate Reset Review – Day 1 Conclusion
At the end of the day I totaled 1490 calories, which is 600 below my maintenance. If I can keep that deficit I would be happy as I would lose over a pound a week. But remember, I have added an extra snack for my day to keep it more manageable and also not to lose weight too fast. Can’t wait for tomorrow! Sweet. I just bought this program with Shakeology. I’m pretty excited.
I started out with P90X. I lost a remarkable amount of weight. I finished last year finishing Insanity at about 150 lbs. I got Insanity Asylum and P90X2 and this particular “cleanse” because I’ve been eating shit for a long time and gained some serious LBS…
Keep it up. I can’t wait to start up Insanity/Asylum/P90X2 and get back down to 6-pack city.
That’s awesome Chris! I needed a “reset” too so this was perfect! I wasn’t really looking to lose a lot of weight, but lost 7 pounds the first week. Keep reading my journals for inspiration or contact me to join one one my Ultimate Reset Challenge groups.
I want to lose 10 pounds is this possible? I’ve tried other diets before and they never work for me. Please let me know.
Absolutely Sharron! IF you keep reading my journal you will see that I started to lose weight fast. In fact, too fast! The Ultimate Reset diet plan has worked far better than any nutrition plan I have ever tried. Plus it’s easy to follow and will completely cleanses you body. You will love it!
To all the ladies, just want to say that the Ultimate Reset is the best! I could never stick to a diet no matter how hard I tried and am happy to say that I lost 14 pounds in only 3 weeks!
Thank you so much for all your support Superdave, I couldn’t have done it without you!
I’m so proud of you Jackie, you did AWESOME!
Give yourself some credit because you almost didn’t go for it, but I’m so glad you did!
I was looking at your other post about the different options and wanted to know if I should use the Shakeology or not.
I definitely recommend it for two reasons. One, it makes it easy to substitute a meal if you are unprepared. Two, it helps gives you a healthy boost and in that first week it will be extra helpful. Just be sure to order the Ultimate Reset Challenge Pack because that is the ONLY way to get Shakeology WITH your Ultimate Reset plus you get it cheaper than buying them separately.
I was reading other sites about this, but i found your journal to be the best and after hearing from others how well it works I’m going to start the Ultimate Reset! Wish me luck!
Awesome Mindy! Luck? No way! The Ultimate Reset works extremely well and is easy to follow, plus I will coach you. I also have a Facebook group just for people on the Reset. I’ll message you the details.
Do you still have Ultimate Reset groups? I remember you emailed something about that awhile back.
Sure do Adam! I’ll message you details about the Facebook Ultimate Reset Challenge Group.
My husband and I are interested in doing the Ultimate Reset. Do we have to buy two whole kits or is there enough of the supplements for both of us?
Almost. I’ll message you with details because it would take too long to list my answer here. But basically you two can split the Ultimate Reset Challenge Pack and use the Maintenance kit and Shakeology that comes later to keep you both going.
The reason I have come to trust the BeachBody fitness and nutrition products is because they back their claims up with real trials and test subjects. I myself can be considered a test subject as I have been working out with one of the company’s home fitness programs – and it works! P90X rules! This day to day review of Reset is a perfect example of something real that works. My wife is really interested in this and I may do it too.
This log is so helpful. This is what I love about the beach body community of trainers and trainees. There is so much feedback on the forums and blogs and all of it is real. No gimmicks, no hype. This is what the people need if the majority are going to join the fight against obesity.
I am doing reset right now. I am on day 1 of week 2. I have noticed weight GAIN!!!!! I am following the recipes and have not cheated at all. I did this to lose my last 10lbs to get to my 50lb weight loss goal. Is this normal? I feel like I was doing better with my own diet? have you had other people have this happen- or has my body just not adjusted yet? Was thinking that when I started the detox phase the weight loss would start. Not giving up- am committed to it. Any input?
I haven’t heard of weight gain with the Reset, but have occasionally from other clients doing other programs. In most cases, it’s a temporary situation (hormones) but it can be related to other issues. (This is all assuming the calorie goal is correct) Hasn’t your assigned Coach been helping you?!? I’ll message you now and let’s get to the bottom of this.
Dave,
Like Liz, my husband and I are tackling the Ultimate Reset together. Can you send me the info on purchasing for the both of us?
Absolutely! I’ll email you right now. Good timing, because last week they introduced new Ultimate Reset kits for couples so you don’t have to buy two of the same kit.
Have noticed on a other discussion boards the use of Vegan shakeology as part of the ultimate reset. Is this something that is an optional meal replacement as part of the meal plan or is it required. Is it something you recommend
It’s optional and I highly recommend it. The Ultimate Reset recipes may be easy to follow, but it’s nice to have a safe “backup” for any meal. If you order the Ultimate Reset Challenge Pack, you will get both at a discount.
Dave, I’ve been reading your comments about the Ultimate Reset and I’m just about ready to try it for two reasons. I have been needing to lose 20-30 lbs for the longest and now recently I’ve been diagnosed with high cholesterol and they want to put me on medication for it. I know it’s just a matter of ramping up my exercise and adjusting my diet, but that is easier said then done. I don’t want to be on medication, so I’m really interested in seeing if this cleanse can get me on track. I also do a bootcamp workout twice a week, but thought I read that you’re not supposed to do strenuous exercise during the 21-day cleanse? What about walking, weights, something?
Lori, I have witnessed and heard some amazing stories of how the Ultimate Reset results have changed people’s lives and getting off meds is a very common scenario. Yes, avoid strenuous exercise with the reset, but it depends mostly on how drastic a calorie deficit you are in. But walking is definitely okay, so feel free to do that as often as you like.
